  6. Thank you for joining us for our fifth annual Developers Conference! We've
  7. taken a few of the DESQview API programs written by members of the Quarterdeck
  8. Technical Services department and placed them on this disk. There are also some
  9. handy command-line utilities here as well. You'll also find the Quarterdeck
  10. White Papers, with lots of information that should prove to be both useful and
  11. educational.

  13. Each program can be found in its own subdirectory on the diskette.
  14. Documentation is provided for each program, and is found in the program's
  15. subdirectory.

  20. AREA CODE INTERNATIONALE 2.01

  23. DESQview-specific: Yes
  24. Description: Area Code Internationale (ACI) is a handy program for looking up
  25.    area codes in the United States and Canada, as well as international access
  26.    codes for countries across the world. ACI uses an ASCII data file for its
  27.    information, so you can easily make any necessary additions or changes.

  29. BACK WORDS

  32. DESQview-specific: Yes
  33. Description: Back Words is a fun demonstration of the DESQview API, in which
  34.    phrases you enter are flipped in reverse. Source code to the program is
  35.    provided as an example of programming the DESQview API.

  37. BASIC API DEMOS (SEND and REC)

  40. DESQview-specific: Yes
  41. Description: SEND and REC are two programs that use the DESQview BASIC API
  42.    Library. They should be run in separate DOS windows. As their names suggest,
  43.    SEND sends DV API mailbox messages and REC receives them, returning a
  44.    receipt to SEND. Then the process begins again. Useful demonstration of
  45.    DESQview's mailbox capabilities.

  47. DVSEARCH 3.0

  51. Description: DVSEARCH is a handy engine for rapidly locating information in
  52.    text files, and presenting this information in an easy-to-read format. We
  53.    use DVSEARCH here at Quarterdeck as a telephone-extension database.

  59. Description: A replacement for DESQview's classic Memory Status program.
  60.    Provides enhanced reporting capabilities, including unmanaged extended
  61.    memory.

  67. Description: ONLY1.SHP is a Shared Program that prevents users from opening
  68.    more than one instance of the same program at the same time. Handy in
  69.    situations where file-locking is a problem, such as data entry, etc.

  75. Description: The Quarterdeck White Papers consists of a collection of the most
  76.    up-to-date TechNotes created by the Quarterdeck Technical Services
  77.    department, combined with a DESQview-specific reader program for easy
  78.    access. Be sure to read the included READ.ME file for installation
  79.    instructions.

  85. Description: Sequre password-protects the DESQview environment, as well as
